Ciderfest 2012

July 4th, 2012 by admin

Congratulations to the 2012 Ciderfest Committee on a terrific job again this year! The weather cooperated beautifully and a record number of people turned out for the Friday night Queen Street Café when Sarah Roach was chosen as Bridgetown’s Youth Ambassador. Congratulations Sarah! I enjoyed walking with the Special Olympics group in this year’s Parade.

Bridgetown was recognized earlier this year as Volunteer community of the Year. To top off an eventful year and as recognition of the people who make Bridgetown work, Brigadier General the Honourable J.J. Grant, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia presented the Lieutenant Governor’s Community Spirit Award at a ceremony in Jubilee Park at 11AM on Sat. September 15th.

Each community in my Riding has their own unique way of celebrating what it means to be part of a vibrant, rural community. The Heart of the Valley Days in July celebrates Middleton’s proud sense of belonging. Natal Days in Annapolis Royal in August incorporates that Town’s proud heritage. The entire County and Province comes together in the Village of Lawrencetown for the Annapolis Valley Exhibition in August. Every small community also has their own celebrations, like Dalhousie Days and Canada Day in Port Lorne to name a couple. I am proud and fortunate to be able to serve as MLA since 2003 to these resilient, proud communities who make the time and take and make the effort to celebrate their rural roots.
